You can feel it in the garden

We’ve passed the winter solstice, the days are noticeably longer, and we are rolling slowly, but inexorably, toward spring. Today was wet and dark and cold in the Homeward Bound Memorial Garden but even so you could still feel an undercurrent of life and growth that promises spring is not far off.

I had to leave but still I paused again and again to look for just one more shot. I am normally drawn toward displays of color but we don’t yet have much of that in the garden. So I search out other targets. Perhaps I can get can get Ogee to teach me how she manages to come up with interesting and beautiful shots no matter how the garden looks. Perhaps.

It’s turtles all the way down.

We had finches in abundance today so I’ll end with another gallery of finches. This will be the last one for a while. I promise!

  1. Thanks for the nod, but you appear to do just fine! Great shots…and envious of the quiet time you get to have in the garden. The “porcupine plant” is blue fescue. A new one for your growing plant knowledge. 🙂

    1. Thank you. I do have that one advantage of being able to go the garden almost whenever I please.

Glad to see the finches are finally using the new bird feeders. It baffles me, why a bird would eat upside down.
I love it that you captured the raindrops in the garden. You are right up there with Ogee.

  4. All four seasons display their specific beauty, but sometimes we just have to look harder to appreciate it. Lovely pics. Well done. 🙂
