Teddy’s style evolves

I’ve written about Teddy a few times, most recently here where I discuss how I knew he was ready to go home. Aside from his questionable behavior when he arrived at Homeward Bound teddy is also known for the various looks he sported along the way.

When Teddy arrived his coat was grown out … and then some. To be honest, I suffered a flashback to the 1970s when I had a scruffier appearance of my own. Teddy insisted that he looks different because he marches to a different drummer. I responded, “Too bad, dude, we have to take care of the mats in your coats.” Besides, summer is coming and you’ll want to stay cool.

What I didn’t tell Teddy is what his “summer cut” would look like.

To my surprise he was quite okay with the shave job. “I am unique,” he said as he imitated a drum playing. Now Teddy’s coat has grown out a bit. He’s put on 7 lbs. He’s gorgeous.

Oh, there’s one more look Teddy added recently: The look of a dog with a new home. Amber and Martin took Teddy home last weekend. Reports indicate that he is doing well. Teddy even received a compliment from a neighbor on how well he behaved. And yes, many people have noted that Amber and Teddy share a hair style.

I miss that boy something awful.

    1. Many people contributed to Teddy’s progress. I think a lot of people came to like that boy once he matured a little.

Thank you for working so hard to make sure he was adoptable! He really is a special guy. (As are you, Rob, for all the love and patience you showed him!) Soon another dog will come along that needs you just as badly as he did and will fill that hole in your heart that Teddy made.

  7. Good for you on taking him in and getting him adoptable. He looks great.
I’ve heard mats in their hair hurt because they pull on the skin.

    1. Mats can hurt quite a bit when they are closer to the skin. When the dog moves the skin gets pulled which causes pain. They can also hurt when the dog is brushed if you’re not careful. Teddy’s mats weren’t the worst ever but he’s certainly more comfortable now.
