On Monday evening I had Scrappy over at Homeward Bound for a walk. I thought I spotted a dog I knew getting picked up from boarding. I was right … it was Rusty. I remembered that I wanted to take Rusty home the first time I saw him. Not just for his unique look although I admit he is beautiful. But he also has a soulful quality that drew me in. Turned out he was a timid guy that needed to build some confidence. It was clear from seeing him on Monday that his new family had been doing exactly…

Scrappy has visitors
Last weekend Scrappy had two visitors, Buddy and Yule. I’ve written about Yule a few times already. He’s Scrappy’s best friend. It’s gratifying to see them get excited when they spot each other approaching for a visit. Buddy had been with us once or twice before but Scrappy mostly gives him the cold shoulder. Well, to be honest, he can be somewhat too thorough in the olfactory examination — if you know what I mean. Today we paired him up with a girl…
Sometimes you just want to get closer
I probably should be writing about Teddy. I’ve been working with him for a while and he’s an interesting dog. But I don’t have the energy at the moment. Plus, I think we may be on the cusp of a significant accomplishment. I hope. So more to come on this boy. I did, however, feel the garden beckoning late this afternoon. I have been using one lens a lot lately and felt an urge to get closer to the subject so I pulled out the macro. There were some new roses to shoot. And some irises. The iris was one…
