Sometimes you just end up with more dogs than you expected. I’ve long known that Yule was coming for the Thanksgiving weekend. That would make just three dogs including Scrappy and Lilly, the full-time residents here. But then Buddy’s parents texted a few days ago to see if I could accommodate Buddy for a few days. Sure, why not. And then Homeward Bound got full up so that added one more. I’m glad it stopped there. You may recall Buddy as he’s been a guest here several times. He’s a wonderfully sweet boy who is working on his confidence with…

He’s always welcome here. And Luke wanted to be included again today.

Riki and Sophie
Homeward Bound had a pair of visitors from Oregon over the weekend. Sophie and Riki graced us with their playful presence and charmed everyone they met.
Shaggy stops by
Shaggy’s Mom brought him with her to HB yesterday. She was feeding the kennel dogs in the morning and didn’t to leave him home due to some construction happening at their house. I was grateful to be able to spend a little time. He was lying in a yard when I arrived so I lay down next to him and stroked his beautiful coat. I had forgotten how he starts to “purr” when you do that. Shaggy stayed with me for a couple months while undergoing treatment for heartworm. They can’t run or play during this time because the worms…
Yule’s second home
Yule’s Mom, the wealthy heiress, is off traipsing around Europe or Asia or somewhere. It’s hard to keep track of her travels. The most excellent part about these trips is that Yule comes here, his second home. Sadly, I only have him for a few more days after which he must return to his primary home. You mat recall that Yule and Scrappy are best friends. Scrap won’t play with very many dogs. But he’ll play with Yule nearly every day that he’s here. I like to wait out front when I know Yule will arrive soon. I tell Scrappy…

An old friend stopped by
Bear came with his Mom to visit us at Homeward Bound a few days ago. Bear is the dog that stayed with me with me for a few weeks while his Mom was out of commission back in March. I wrote about him in this post. Bear is a special boy and it was good to see him again. I asked him to sit and he dutifully posed for several photos. His mom has trained him well!
