Yule’s Mom, the wealthy heiress, decided at the last minute to spend Christmas in Vienna. Something about the skiing being outstanding there this year. Yule, of course, is always welcome here. That makes five for Christmas. Yule. My Scrappy. My Lilly. More on her still to come. My beloved Shaggy. A Homeward Bound alumnus. And Molly. She’s here from Homeward Bound because she likes to “mouth” people hands a little too much. Make that way too much. But she’s improving.

Catching up
I had mentioned that I had a few canine guests over Thanksgiving weekend but I’m just now getting to Yule’s photos. He makes a good subject as always. Yule did well with Lilly although she is still wary of him. He also spent a little time with Buddy out in the yard a couple times. Yule doesn’t realize what an imposing figure he cuts. Inside he can be a frightened little puppy. Yule is big — part Great Pyrenees — and has a massive head that I love to rub. Scrappy and Lilly form the welcoming committee — loud as…
Yule’s second home
Yule’s Mom, the wealthy heiress, is off traipsing around Europe or Asia or somewhere. It’s hard to keep track of her travels. The most excellent part about these trips is that Yule comes here, his second home. Sadly, I only have him for a few more days after which he must return to his primary home. You mat recall that Yule and Scrappy are best friends. Scrap won’t play with very many dogs. But he’ll play with Yule nearly every day that he’s here. I like to wait out front when I know Yule will arrive soon. I tell Scrappy…

Scrappy’s Halloween Costume
Hockey player. At least, that’s how it looked to me.
Walter is back
Last week I wrote here about sweet Walter returning from a stint in San Diego as a greeter in a flower shop. The very next day he was adopted by a local couple. I was confident this match would last. I was wrong — Walter came back today. The reasons it didn’t work out aren’t relevant for the blog. The adopters weren’t at fault in any way. In fact, it’s admirable that they took the appropriate action sooner rather than later. We appreciate that. I went over to HB to bring him home, and he was happy to see me….
Fall tapped me on the shoulder
I haven’t shot much in the HB garden lately. For several reasons. On Friday I found myself at HB with no dogs and no pressing need to get home quickly. I fed Frida the Cat, and, instead of hurrying to the car, I grabbed a camera and strolled through the garden. It was almost a new experience for me — it had been so long. Perhaps more so because the weather had recently turned cool. That’s a relative thing, of course. In Sacramento we’ll mostly have temps in the 70s and even 80s throughout October. I relaxed and slowed down…
Yule is back!
Scrappy is always delighted when Yule visits. Yule is one of the few dogs he’ll actually play with. Yule met someone new this time. That’s Lilly. More on her another day. Their relationship is not yet what I call “warm”.
Scrappy, we need to talk
Worst words a boy can hear.
Wordless Wednesday: Profiles
Tucker aka Fido comes for a visit
Tucker (Fido when he was at Homeward Bound) arrived for a short stay today. He appeared in a post here and here. Scrappy and Tucker had a rough and tumble play session despite the size discrepancy. I think Scrap still finds Tucker a bit intimidating.
Buddy’s back
Scrappy has a guest. Yet another guest. Ogee suggest that Scrappy should get some kind of medal for being such a good host. Maybe so. Buddy has boarded with us before, and is back for just a few days this week. Buddy is an exceptionally handsome boy. Teddy Bear was exceptionally playful today. A little peekaboo is good for the soul.
