It’s gratifying to be part of success even if it’s a small part. A lot of parts went into Lucy and Lilly’s success story which you can read about in Gardens for Goldens here and here. Many of you already follow Ogee so are happily familiar with her beautiful photos and writing. For those that don’t, click the links. It’s worth the trip. I was able to give Lucy and Lilly a place to stay while we assessed them and started the process to find them a new home. They are not relate despite their similar appearance. That’s Lilly on…

Charley for a Day
Nope, not a new TV show. Charley is a Homeward Bound alumnus, and he stayed with me for a while while we weaned him off Prozac. I wrote a little about him in this post. He’s back for a short visit while his Mom and Dad celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary. He’ll be going home tomorrow but it’s great to see him again if only for a short time. Scrappy’s not playing with Charlie — that’s nothing new. But at least he isn’t all pouty and moping around this time.
Slow day
I never left home yesterday (Saturday), mostly because I was working on a leg injury. I also did some chores outside as much as I could. The late afternoon produced some good photography light so I decided to test some lenses to determine which get sold and which get to stay. That’s my excuse for having only Scrappy shots to post. This is Scrap giving me “the look”. You might think he’s expressing his impatience at posing for so many pictures. And the truth is he isn’t always cooperative. But he’s learning that he gets treats when he poses properly…
Wordless Wednesday: Fido finally gets Scrappy to play!
Scrappy has something to say
I ought to be posting about Teddy tonight but Scrappy was getting positively chatty earlier this evening. That’s unusual so I figure he wants me to share. That’s Ginorma the Snake he has with him.
Rusty
On Monday evening I had Scrappy over at Homeward Bound for a walk. I thought I spotted a dog I knew getting picked up from boarding. I was right … it was Rusty. I remembered that I wanted to take Rusty home the first time I saw him. Not just for his unique look although I admit he is beautiful. But he also has a soulful quality that drew me in. Turned out he was a timid guy that needed to build some confidence. It was clear from seeing him on Monday that his new family had been doing exactly…

Yule and Bear and Scrappy and Teddy
It’s been a challenging week. I think a scorecard to help keep track of the dogs involved would be a good idea. Bear is staying with me for an extended time while a friend attends to some important matters. Yule arrived on Sunday to board with me this week. I wrote on Sunday that we introduced Bear and Yule and it didn’t go well. This meant I had to keep them separate. But I couldn’t put anyone in my kennels because Teddy, the Homeward Bound dog I am working, is, shall we say, not very welcoming. So Bear would have…
Yule arrives in March
Remember Yule? He’s back for a visit. If you haven’t yet read about Yule, you can get caught up here and here. I mentioned in another post that Scrappy has been irked with me due to the number of dogs I bring through the house. He does growls softly from time to to register his displeasure with me as well as the canine object of his annoyance. Scrappy and Yule have played well together in the past. In fact, Scrappy is still the only dog Yule ever gets really close to. But I wondered if Scrap’s bad attitude would extend to…
Dogs come and go here
Charlie is leaving tomorrow. I’m a little sad about that. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having him here but it is better for him to be back with his family. But as Charlie starts packing to return home an unexpected guest arrives. I was very pleased to welcome Bear today. He is a gentle, happy boy with a beautiful soul. But he is also capable of roughhousing as he did with Charlie this afternoon. He is one of those dogs that I wanted to take home as soon as I met him at Homeward Bound. And Scrappy is till Scrappy. Probably wondering…
Scrappy Outtakes
I had pulled a lot of photos for Scrappy’s Story but not all were included in the posts. It’s safe to say that Scrappy is not the smoothest athlete in the dog world as evidenced below. And he didn’t always follow proper canine etiquette. But he also had his moments.
